RE: Long Distance Towing for RV and Truck

Regular tow companies probably wont be much help due to the distance...your going to need a transportation company. Google "rv transporters"....and start getting quotes.:B

RE: electric cable service entrance

Update: I shimmy under the tongue with my drill driver w/socket. 10 hex head screws...more than 1/2 were rounded off and needed to back them out with pliers. As i pull down the panel i find a "sealant" substance "sorta-kinda" around the inside edge of the panel. I say sort kinda cuz it seems someone threw some on just to hold panel in place while he screwed it back in...Not really enough to make a water barrier? Inside the panel, i do NOT find a box..which really didnt surpise me. But i did find this is where all the wires are nutted together as mentioned above. Which is good enough for me. I was able to completely remove the negative battery cable withouth cutting...about 36 inches of wire and it says the guage on it in 1 spot...and even then very hard to make out. Looks like an 8 ga.:B

Awning fabric

So now that we figured out how to operate our awning...we can definitely say the fabric needs replacing. In perusing the websites i see a few option for fabric...mainly Vinyl, PolyWeave, and Acrylic. I'm guessing that each has its own +s and -s...but what say you? For those who didnt see my earlier post...my awning is a circa 1986 Faulkner, 18 feet measured center of arm to center of arm. The current fabric has the Faulkner logo on it...so guessing it is original. A few inches from the point where fabric connects to trailer you can see "slits" of daylight running almost continuously the whole length of the trailer. Would repair tape be good enough as a temporary fix?

RE: 4" Bumper Weight Limit

I just bought a new spare tire but will not mount it to the back bumper as the bumper is pretty rusted. I dont trust any weight on it. There is currently no mount there...but if they made one that distributed the weight over a larger area of the bumper....

RE: electric cable service entrance

This panel is not behind the converter. The converter is in back of trailer...this panel is just underneath the front of the trailer. As soon as the wires go under the front wall...they go into this panel...

electric cable service entrance

Following the pigtail and battery cables...they go under the trailer then up into the floor. At this service entrance there is an "access panel" for lack of a better term. If i remove this panel...will i find a junction box?...where these wires connect to the wires that actually run thru the trailer? What got me looking is that the shop replaced the pigtail and the new tail goes into the entrance.. I know, i could just climb under and remove the dozen or so screws and find out...:W

RE: hoohing up to cable tv

I havent had the chance to use mine yet...but the TT (used) came with a 50' length. My only "issue" is why is the outside connector on the curb side of the trailer? Why isnt it on the same side (drivers) as all the other connections??? You sure there isn't a park conector on the drivers side ?? The curb side conector may be if you want to use a portable TV out side . Not that i have yet to discover. There are 2 connections inside...one next to roof top antenna port and 2nd in the master bedroom. Both on curb wall. The outside curbside connector says something along lines of "TV Park Connection"....i'll have to double check exact wording...

RE: how many of you camp with children

I've got 2 DD....9 and 6...and a TT. Full size master bed, "transformer" dinette, and a single upper bunk. No issues...:)

RE: CH 751 key

My work has a storage area for RVs...and i have several times found cargo doors left open on Rvs that recently returned. I would take it upon myself to use my 751 to lock them for the customer. :B

RE: Crossed vs. Uncrossed safety chain pictures

Interesting discussion. If I type in a quote that I say is fact like "all trailers must have 3 wheels" does not make it true. Somebody give me a link that states that camper trailer chains must be crossed. I don't think you will find one. Is it a good idea? Maybe, but not required. PA Title 75 Sec 4905 (d) Safety chains.--Whenever two vehicles are connected by a ball-and-socket type hitch, or pintle hook without a locking device, they shall also be connected by two safety chains of equal length, each safety chain having an ultimate strength at least equal to the gross weight of the towed vehicles. The safety chains shall be crossed and connected to the towed and towing vehicle and to the tow bar so as to prevent the tow bar from dropping to the ground in the event the tow bar fails or becomes disconnected. The safety chains shall have no more slack than is necessary to permit proper turning. However, i too have the common connection point...

RE: Water heater

Yes, the silver round tube. On the left side you have a small piece of tube with slots in it. You can run a wire in through slots to the right. If you bend on a very small hook on the end of the wire it will bring back any stuff a bug or spider may have built inside the tube. Bob Forgive my ignorance here...but that sounds like you're talking about the BIG silver tube...main burner tube...if the pilot is the small silver tube...how does clearing the big one help fire the pilot?:@

RE: Water heater

Scott If you have not run the water heater for over a year, I would like to suggest that you run some thin flexable wire inside the gas tube to determine if any critters have built a nest in there or not. Spiders are attracted to propane fixtures. A critter nest will block the flow of the gas. Plus, as other have stated it does take awhile for a heater to lite off if it has not run for awhile. I saw a plastic plug in the picture. I am assuming that you put it back in and filled the tank with water before trying to lite the burner, Right? Bob as far as i know...it hasn't been run in over 4 years. thin wire through which tube? the smaller silver one? enter through the pilot hole? i took the plug out in November to drain the heater for winterizing.

RE: Water heater

Did you remember to push in on the blue knob after turning it to the pilot position?.( If it doesn't push turn it just past the pilot position.) It is spring loaded and turns the gas on to the pilot tube. You need to keep pushing it in until the pilot is lit and then hold it in for a few more seconds until the pilot will stay lit. Then turn the knob to the on position. Good Luck.. Yes sir...held it where needed. Thanks. I have the original instructions...and they are printed inside the heater. I'm hoping its just i didnt wait long enough. It was our 2nd trip out...so was probably impatient..but this time i saw how long it took to light the oven...

RE: Awning question

oh yeah...and this handle on left... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v148/mrjam2jab/Travel%20Trailer/P1070898.jpg which most awning directions say to lift to unlock the sliding bar...on mine is just a simple handle...the knob on right is the unlock... :B

RE: spring bar hooks

Thats it??? Wow. :E I'm almost afraid to loosen it for fear of not getting it tight enough again...but i'll make it happen. :C You can see that bolt is only about 1 inch long...the other side the bolt is about 4 inches long. not sure what happened there.
